NRA DEFENSIVE PISTOL COURSE[this course is not a beginner level course][by appointment]

Course cost:   $150.00 per person[$20.00 non-refundable deposit required]
The NRA Defensive Pistol Course is a two day course for 1 to 8 persons [Classroom-Saturday 8:30 am to 2 pm ----Range - Sunday  8:45 am to 2 pm]
Classrrom:  Colorado Springs
Range:  Generally indoors depending on availability
Ammo: 200 rounds[supplied by student][please, no  magnuim cartridges]
Handgun: 380 cal [minimum]; 357 mag/38 spcl; 9 mm, 40 cal; 45 cal [supplied by student]
Magazines/speed loaders [four or more recommended]
Concealment Garment: [generally a loose shirt, sweater, or jacket that will cover the gun]
Belt and Holster; Dominant side hip holster [No cross-draw, small of the back, shoulder, ankle holsters, fanny packs, inside the waist band, or holster purses][Holster must retain shape and not collapse. Thumb-break holsters allowed, but thumb-break must be taped or wired out of the way.  Holsters with mechanical retaining features must have the mechanical retaining feature deactivated.]
Eye and Hearing Protection Required [recommend electronic hearing potection]
Cap with a bill[to help protect eyes from flying brass]

Course Objectives
• The importance of carrying and using a pistol responsibly and ethically for personal protection
• How the NRA Rules for Safe Gun handling are applied to concealed carry
• Basic principles of concealment
• Presenting a pistol - reholster
• Mental awareness
• Mental Preparation to develop a defensive mindset for carrying and using a pistol for personal protection
• Techniques for avoiding life-threatening confrontations
• Explain the psychological and physiological changes that may occur during an attack
• Flash sight picture
• Reload under stress
• Clear common stoppages- immediate action drills
• Present a pistol from concealment and reholster
• Cover and concealment
• Present a pistol from concealment and shoot targets at varying distances
• Move off the line of attack and shoot
• Qualify for the NRA Defensive Pistol Certificate

The NRA Defensive Pistol Course is not an entry level course.
